Hiking & Climbing

The Mournes are unique in that they have 12 peaks within a seven mile radius. Slieve Donard is the highest at 2,796ft (850m). The most famous feature is the Mourne Wall which is 22 miles (35km) long. It offers a great challenge for the keen hiker.
You are in the heart of the Mountains of Mournes with walks for all levels. We can provide you with walking cards (on loan) and information on the Mournes. Packed lunches can be provided. You can hire flasks, wet gear and bags for your expedition. We also have a large drying room and a tumble dryer (at an extra cost).
Our bedrooms are equipped with a set of 10 local walks. You are also encouraged to discuss your plans with the staff who will give you helpful advice. Your room will also provide information about these walks.

Cycling Routes

In the mournes area, seven circular routes have been clearly way marked and free laminated cards are available.
We encourage bikers to come to the Mournes and enjoy quiet country roads and an interesting terrain suitable for everyone.

For The Kids

The Mourne Lodge is an ideal place for the family with four bed family rooms and also adjoining rooms which gives parents that feeling of security for their children. It offers DVD’s, games, books, colouring activities to keep your children occupied during your stay. During the summer months there is also a local Summer Scheme for children from 3-12 years old which your children can attend. This incorporates language classes, dancing, music, arts and crafts and sports. Ask us about local festivals and fun events for children.
